When is a Reseller not a Reseller (Web Hosting for Designers)?

Web designers are busy people. I have worked in web design for many years and you have to stay very focused to be successful. One of my main bugbears was the difficulty I had hosting the sites for my clients. At the time I wasn’t a web host so I had three options.

1. I either had an account with as provider and just added sites to that a long with my clients domain name. And then billed my clients for the hosting. There wasn’t a great deal of margin in this for me, and i tended to bill at cost price. It had it’s advantages, I could manage the sites easily and all from one place, this was great if I had a management contract with the client.
2. The client managed their own hosting and domain and I simply uploaded the site to it when it was done. This took a chunk work work away from me, but it became a nightmare if i was managing sites. I found I was dealing with loads of different logins to get get to different control panels, and if a client changed some settings and a password it created havoc.
3. Buy a reseller account and host the sites from here. This was the cheapest option, and I could up sell my hosting and make a bit of profit. However it was the most technically complex way of doing things and I gradually found myself managing the reselling more than I was managing the websites.

There has to be a better way.
